Truman's Farm Years
Harry S. Truman moved to his family's Grandview farm in 1906 after leaving a Kansas City banking job. He spent eleven years there before entering Army service during World War I. The surviving farm tells the story of his working life before national office. Sources: Truman Presidential Library farm history and National Park Service farm tour.
Grandview's original railroad depot also survives beside City Hall and Freedom Park. It provides another link to the community's earlier development, separate from the Truman property. Source: city's history.
Plan a Farm Visit
